Dr Wig was Professor and Head of the Department, General Surgery, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. His area of interests are General Surgery especially in the areas of Liver, Gall Bladder, Pancreas, Thyroid, Breast, Adrenals and Gastrointestinal Surgery. He is an Examiner for MS (Surgery), MCh (Surgical Gastroenterology) , DNB (General Surgery, Surgical Gastroenterology ) and a Guest Lecturer. Clinical Interests/Specialized Treatments/Area of Expertise: Gastrointestinal Surgery & Surgical Oncology.

Dr Wig has been conferred the Dr. BC Roy award twice by the Medical Council of India, Fellowship by the National Academy of Medical Sciences and several other awards by Association of Surgeons of India and Indian Society of Gastroenterology. He has also received awards and commendation for numerous papers.
