Dr. Vishal Chhabra is a highly experienced psychiatrist with over 21 years of clinical practice. He completed his MBBS and MD in Psychiatry from the prestigious Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. Over the years, he has worked with renowned institutions such as IHBAS, GTB Hospital, VIMHANS, and Metro Group of Hospitals, gaining extensive expertise in diagnosing and treating various psychiatric disorders. Currently, he serves as the Head of Department & Senior Consultant at Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, while also consulting at Fortis hospitals in Okhla and Vasant Kunj. Additionally, he is the Founder & Director of Chhabra Psychiatry Centre, Rohini, Delhi, where he continues to provide specialized mental health care. Dr. Chhabra is a Life Fellow of the Indian Psychiatric Society, Indian Association of Biological Psychiatry, Indian Association of Social Psychiatry, and Indian Association of Private Psychiatry. His contributions to the field have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Ravi Pandey Memorial Award (2006), WPA Fellowship in Child Psychiatry (2008), and Asian Federation Fellowship (2012). A dedicated academician, he has 14 research articles published in indexed journals and has contributed two chapters to a Psychiatry textbook. He also serves on the editorial board of the Delhi Psychiatry Journal, furthering his commitment to mental health research and education. Actively involved in professional organizations, Dr. Chhabra recently served as the Immediate Past President (2023-24) of the Delhi Psychiatric Society (DPS). He previously held key positions within the organization, including President (2022-23), Vice President (2019-21), General Secretary (2017-18), and Treasurer (2010-16). During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in initiating academic programs, focusing on young psychiatrists, and expanding the society’s membership. He currently serves as the Co-Chairman of the Membership Sub-Committee (2023-24) of the Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS) and has previously held leadership roles as the Chairperson of the LGBT Task Force (2022-23) and Headquarters Sub-Committee (2021-22) of IPS. Beyond his medical practice, Dr. Chhabra has a strong passion for community service and leadership. During his medical school years, he was the Founder President of the Rotaract Club of MAHE, Manipal, where he initiated impactful projects such as health camps, school visits, and meditation sessions for the community. His academic interests include phenomenology, mood and anxiety disorders, addiction disorders, psychopharmacology, and neurobiology. Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Chhabra is an avid advocate for mental health awareness and regularly delivers public lectures on psychological well-being.
