Visualize Your Success In Exams To Achieve It!

Dr. Samir Parikh Mar 19, 2013

If you are student who is sitting for her or his board exams this year, we bet you are no stranger to stress and anxiety.  The pressure is immense: complete the extensive syllabi, within the limited time-frame and deliver on everyone’s expectations (teachers, parents and your own). It’s enough to raise anyone’s stress levels. This stress can easily have a debilitating effect and prevent you from delivering your best in exams.

Before you let this stress monster get the better of you, take a pre-emptive stand and stop stress in its tracks. Begin with a few of these simple suggestions: Have faith in yourself Instead of pulling yourself down with ‘I won’t be able to complete my syllabus on time’ or ‘What if I fail?’, show faith in yourself and your capabilities. Maintain a positive outlook and keep your spirits high. Wade Boggs, a prominent American Baseball player once said, “A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results.” A positive outlook and staunch faith in your capabilities can not only help you keep stress at bay but also excel in exams. Ability is what gives you opportunity; belief is what gets you there! Visualize your own moment of success Visualize your own success, believe in it, make a plan and start working towards it. Imagine yourself sitting down in the examination hall with your entire syllabus, thoroughly studied and revised. Draw up a practical study plan and execute it smartly completing tasks one at a time. Getting bogged down with an extensive syllabi? Break your syllabi into smaller, manageable chunks and allocate definite timelines. Make a realistic timetable and try to follow it as much as you can. Always remember, the harder you work, the luckier you get! Ask for help whenever you feel low Whenever you are overwhelmed with negative thoughts or feel too stressed to study, talk to your parents, a friend or a supportive teacher. We all need guidance and help when we are in the middle of a stressful situation. Don't let the fear of being judged prevent you from asking for help when you need it the most. Approach your exams with a positive frame of mind and you are sure to excel in all your examinations without getting overtly anxious or stressed.
