Dr Jumana Y Haji is an ECMO Specialist with more than 20 years of experience in her field of specialisation. She has incredible expertise and experience caring for ECMO patients in India and Singapore. As a renowned ECMO Specialist, her current core interest is to develop and support ECMO programs for both rural and urban, comprehensive care centres as well as support advanced critical care requirements of heart-lung transplant patients. She focuses on providing excellent patient care both in the operating room and in the ICU through continuous monitoring and assessment of the ECMO circuit, related technology, and patient status.
Dr Jumana received her MBBS degree from K J Somaiya Medical College and Research Centre, Mumbai. She completed her MD in Anaesthesia from KEM Hospital, Mumbai. She is a diploma holder in Organ Donation after Circulatory Death. Her ECMO journey started in Singapore where she got certified by an ELSO accredited course. She is a trainer for an ELSO accredited training course in India. Prior to joining Fortis, she worked with reputed medical centers in India and abroad, including the National University Health Systems (NUHS), Singapore. Her last assignment was as Consultant Cardiac Critical Care and ECMO Program Director in the Department of Heart-Lung Transplant and Advanced Cardiothoracic Surgery at Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital, Mumbai.
In addition to her clinical activities, Dr Jumana is active in research and she publishes widely in both national and international journals. She is a member of the ELSO Scientific Overview Committee (SOC), a voluntary by-invitation post, representing SWAAC ELSO.
