Dr. Rajat Sharma is the lead physician and heads the Heart Rhythm and Pacemaker Division at Fortis Hospital Mohali. After completing his core cardiology residency from the premier Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India, he pursued an advanced fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology from the Royal infirmary, Queen Elizabeth Health Sciences Centre, University of Dalhousie, Halifax, Canada. Subsequently he pursued advanced interventional cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at Good Samaritan Hospital, Los Angeles, California, USA. He is fellow of the American college of cardiology, USA (FACC) and European college of cardiology (FESC) . He is a fellow of the Heart rhythm Society, FHRs, USA. He is also a life member of the Canadian Heart rhythm society (CHRS ) and Asia Pacific Heart rhythm Society ( APHRS), as well as the Indian Heart rhythm Society (IHRS). He specializes in the management of various cardiac arrhythmias or heart rhythm abnormalities. He performs cardiac electrophysiology studies (EP Study) and catheter ablation for management of various cardiac arrhythmias. His focus areas are complex ablation procedures for management of ventricular tachycardia (both scar and idiopathic), atrial fibrillation and arrhythmias in structural heart diseases, implantation of various advanced types of pacemakers, conduction system pacing , /AICDs for heart rhythm disorders and Biventricular pacemakers for heart failure patients and pacemaker troubleshooting. He manages a regular Heart Rhythm Clinic, Heart Failure Clinic, Pacemaker Device Clinic and Inherited Heart Disease Clinic at Fortis Hospital Mohali. He is the lead physician for the Heart failure and Heart transplant program at Fortis Hospital, Mohali, India. He is member of several International Heart Rhythm societies like- Heart Rhythm Society, USA- European Heart Rhythm Society- PACE USA- ISHNE- Canadian Heart Rhythm Society- Canadian Cardiovascular Society- Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society- Cardiac Electrophysiologist Consortium CES .
