Fortis Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi & NMMC celebrate 2nd anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan

In honour of the 2nd anniversary of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ initiative, Fortis Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation(NMMC) came together to celebrate the success of the cleanliness initiative that is now in its 25th week. Being driven and built with the objective of spreading the message of hygiene, cleanliness and better living, the initiative was supported by Shri Dadasaheb Chabukswar, Commissioner, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, NMMC, Shri Ankush Chavan, Additional Commissioner, NMMC, Shri Mahendra Thoke, Ward Officer, NMMC and Dr Manisha Bobabde, Facility director, Fortis Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi.

The initiative hosted at Mini Seashore Road, Vashi, brought together over 1000 residents from all over Navi Mumbai, including collegians and school students, to pledge their support towards keeping their city clean. Rolled out with the join association of NMMC & Fortis Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi, the campaign has seen tremendous momentum and received support from different HoDs at NMMC as well as from various departments of the hospital and most importantly, citizens of Navi Mumbai.

Shri Dadasaheb Chabukswar, Commissioner for Swachh Bharat at Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, who spearheaded the association for Swachh Bharat cleanliness drive, said, “The living conditions have bearing on our overall health and quality of life. While we constantly endeavour to sensitize Navi Mumbaikars towards importance of cleanliness, the initiative from Fortis Hiranandani Hospital over the past 25 weeks has been a big support, enabling us to reach out to larger sections of the city. We are hopeful that the citizens take note of our collaboration and keep supporting us in creating a healthier and cleaner city.”

Shri Mahendra Thoke, Ward Officer, NMMC, who enabled the drive said, “Swachh Navi Mumbai, Swastha Navi Mumbai has only been successful because of the support we have garnered from the citizens who selflessly supported the initiative for a healthier tomorrow”

Leading the clean-up drive, Dr Manisha Bobade, Facility Director, Fortis Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi, said, “Ensuring cleanliness and hygiene for good health, is a responsibility that we all need to take on. With rise in incidents of mosquito-borne & water-borne illnesses, the need for cleanliness has become even more critical and we all need to work towards it. Through this cleanliness drive that is hosted in collaboration with NMMC, over the past 25 weeks and would be, in the coming weeks, we will work with the residents of the city to ensure better hygiene and living conditions. This is our contribution to the nation’s cause”.

Through this collaboration early this year, NMMC & Fortis Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi, have undertaken clean-up drives at different areas of Navi Mumbai including the Mini Seashore, Terna Orchids, The International School at Koparkhairane, Ayyappa Temple, Sector 7 and Kerala Bhavan area, etc. RTO, Vashi & APMC Market Vendor Association had also joined hands with Fortis Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi & NMMC, to bolster the campaign further.
