Fortis Hospital, Bengaluru organises cleanliness drive Cleaner Bengaluru, Greener Bengaluru

With the objective of consistently creating awareness about the ongoing Swachh Bharat mission and for giving strong impetus to it, Fortis Healthcare organized its cleanliness drive –‘Cleaner Bengaluru, Greener Bengaluru’ in the city. More than 200 volunteers participated in this drive, which also included the management team of Fortis.

Having evolved gradually from being the “Garden City” to the Silicon Valley of India, Bengaluru is the most liveable city in India. Booming with jobs for young professionals, it’s a cosmopolitan city with people from all over the country coming in, not just for jobs but in search of a better life. With the growing population, it’s the need of the hour to focus on cleanliness, at the individual level. Through ‘Cleaner Bengaluru, Greener Bengaluru’ initiative, Fortis aims to better our city by changing the attitude of people.

Fortis hospitals at Bannerghatta Road, Cunningham Road, and Nagarbhavi collectively organised this cleanliness drive in their respective neighbourhood and different parts of the cities. Doctors, clinical and non-clinical staff members and employees from all departments including Operation, HR, Marketing and Sales of all three branches participated in the cleanliness drive. The volunteers planted saplings, swept the roads, picked garbage and plastics and disposed piled-up wastes from the pavements.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Manish Mattoo, Zonal Director at Fortis Hospitals said“Health and hygiene go hand-in-hand. As one of the foremost and responsible healthcare organizations, we are naturally aligned to this cause as good public health is directly co-related with clean surrounding and green ecology. People living in unhygienic neighbourhoods are more prone to different diseases, either communicable or non-communicable. Therefore, it is important to create awareness among them on the idea of clean living. We want to lead by example and our initiative is aimed at encouraging people towards keeping their ecosystem clean. Besides, we intend to play a very active role of supporting urban and local bodies in keeping their surrounding clean.”
