Fortis Hospital Noida organizes electronic bike rally to raise awareness on lung cancer
Noida, 27 November 2022: In an endeavor to create awareness around lung cancer and air pollution, Fortis Hospital Noida today flagged-off an electronic bike rally at 6.30 am. This is the first time that Fortis Healthcare organized such an event involving e-bikes. Over 150 people participated in this rally, consisting of 40 e-bikes started from Fortis Hospital, Noida Gate No. 1 and ended at Fortis Hospital, Noida Gate No. 2, covering a distance of 5 kms. The rally was conducted to promote awareness about the usage of electronic bikes to safeguard the environment and reduce pollution. It is important to note that the increased pollution from petrol/diesel-driven vehicles causes health issues, which has an impact on the organs, especially the lungs. The rally concluded with a zumba session and felicitation of guests from Uttar Pradesh Traffic Police. The event was graced by Shri Ganesh Prasad Saha - DCP, Traffic Police Noida and his entire team of 27 police officials.
Mohit Singh, Zonal Director, Fortis Hospital, Noida said, “With the increasing air pollution and environmental degradation, it is important to take care of lung health. Aggravated levels of air pollution has led to deteriorated lung health. Thus, as responsible citizens, it is important for us to reduce the sources of air pollution and contribute to a greener environment. The e-bike rally is an effort to raise awareness on air pollution and related health ailments – Lung cancer being one of them.”
Lung cancer is by far the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women all over the world, including India. Each year, more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast and prostate cancers combined. Lung cancer can start in the cells lining the bronchi and parts of the lung. Lung cancer is often a life-threatening disease because it tends to spread even before it is detected by a chest x-ray.
