Mumbai’s First Successful Paediatric Heart Transplant Patient Discharged from Fortis Hospital, Mulund

Fortis Hospital, Mulund discharged Mumbai’s first Paediatric Cardiology transplant patient today. Doctors at Fortis Hospital, Mulund conducted a successful heart transplant surgery on a 16 year old female recipient. Having recovered from such tough medical procedure, she left for her home in Vikhroli in Mumbai. The heart was received from a 20 year old female donor after she was announced brain dead at Chaoitaram Hospital in Indore. The recipient was suffering from Dilated Cardiomyopathy.

The donor heart was retrieved by Dr Anvay Mulay, Head of Cardiac Transplant Team, Fortis Hospital, Mulund, Mumbai. Then, the donor heart was flown to Fortis Hospital in Mumbai in less than 2 hours covering a staggering distance of 546 kilometres.
