School principals plant sapling at Fortis Mohali

Fortis Hospital Mohali today celebrated Nanhi Chhaan Day by planting sapling at the hospital. Principals of Mohali schools – Ms. Anuradha Dua from Vivek School Mohali, Dr Komal Singh of The Learning Paths School, Ms. Preneet Sohal of Shemrock School Mohali and Ms. Goldy of Saupin’s School Mohali – planted the first sapling. The hospital also distributed the sapling among patients and attendants to promote the message of ‘Save the Environment, Save the Girl Child, Save Humanity’.

This unique initiative is celebrated in March at all Fortis hospitals in an effort to promote the welfare of the girl child. Since 2009, Fortis has distributed over 54,000 sapling as part of its unique Nanhi Chhaan programme. In 2016 along, over 7,000 sapling were handed over to those who had a girl child. Mr. Ashish Bhatia, COO-North & East, Fortis Healthcare Ltd, said, “On Nanhi Chhaan Day, when we, at Fortis, dedicate ourselves again to the cause of ‘saving the girl child, saving environment’, it’s apt to have educationists and principals plant these sapling and promote this cause.”

Facility Director (Mohali) Mr. Abhijit Singh was also present on the occasion. “The discrimination against girl child will not only harm the society, but will also damage the generations to come. We shun female foeticide, and also urge everybody to save the environment by planting sapling and taking care of the green areas in their surroundings,” he said.
