Transplant Surgeons at FHM Conduct City’s 31st Heart Transplant & 45th Cadaver Donation

Surgery marking city’s 31st heart transplant was conducted by Dr Anvay Mulay, Heard of Cardiac Transplant Team, Fortis Hospital, Mulund, at the hospital on Sept 24th, 2016. A 33yr old male recipient from Ahmednagar received the donor heart from a 52yr old male patient Dhiren Shah, who had suffered Intracranial Bleed and was declared Brain Dead at the same hospital. Expressing their beloveds wish to donate organs, the family from Navi Mumbai readily agreeing to donate his Heart and Kidneys. The recipient, a 33yr old male suffering from Dilated Cardiomyopathy and was waitlisted for over two months.

The Kidneys were transplanted by Fortis Hospital, Mulund’s Dr Rakesh Rai, Senior Consultant HPB & Transplant Surgery and Dr Ramesh Mahajan, Urologist, into two in-house patients suffering from End Stage Renal Disease, a 57yr old female recipient from Airoli and another into a 46yr old male recipient from Mulund.
