Unique Community Connect Initiative by Fortis to assist Noida Traffic Police during peak hours

Fortis Hospital, Noida May 10, 2016

Fortis Hospital Noida initiated an exemplary community connect service by extending a helping hand to the Noida Traffic Police to make traffic smoother for commuters at peak hours at various points at Noida.

Extensive construction work going on at various strategic points at Noida results in daily traffic jams causing severe hardship to commuters in reaching their destinations. To help find a solution to this daily concern, volunteers from the hospital have offered to man the traffic at all these points to facilitate seamless traffic flow and reduce jams. To lend this initiative a professional approach and to make it more impactful, the volunteers have undergone a special training on traffic rules from the Traffic Police Dept, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Noida.

Volunteers who will be a part of the above workshop will be provided a certificate of participation from Fortis Hospital, Noida. They will be deployed for one hour along the main sectors of Noida road along with Noida Traffic Police to gain hands-on experience in managing traffic in busy areas of the city during the peak hours in the morning.

Further, to empower police personnel on what steps to take in situations where they are required to administer first aid to an accident victim or offer first aid to a victim falling in the medico-legal category, the hospital in turn has shouldered the responsibility in imparting basic life services (BLS) Training to about 30 policemen. The interactive training sessions were held in the premises of the hospital and police personnel were also asked to demonstrate what they had learnt.

Mr. Gagan Sehgal, Zonal Director, Fortis Hospital Noida said, “As part of an organizational policy, our initiative is to give back to the community whatever we have gained from it. In this community connect event, we extend our cooperation and support to the Traffic Police, Noida in trying to make the roads free of traffic jams to the extent possible, and make it easier for people to reach their destinations in a seamless manner instead of struggling to manouevre their vehicles out of the traffic jams.”
